"I bought this fireplace insert as a Christmas present for my wife, and she loves it! We were not particularly looking for an additional heat source as much as a decorative insert. However it does put out more heat than I expected. I installed it in an existing fireplace that we had never used. It was pretty much a "plug in and play" install. Hardest part was running the cord up thru the wall to the existing outlet on top of our mantle."

Easy installation but barely warms up the room

"I purchased this unit to install in basement. I had tmy contractor build up a frame with 2 by 4s in the front stepped wall as per the dimensions in the user manual. Following the written i struction tbe recess installation was simpler than I thought. The manual provides the exact size of hole for different scenarios and I wanted it fully recessed, like a frame on wall. I was particularly impressed how easy the front glass slides in and secures on the unit without any screw driver. Going passed the installation I'm not that crazy about this purchase. Sure the unit is well built and is quite sturdy. It by no means is made of cheap thin metal. However I can't tell I'm satisfied by the amount of heat and the looks of the flames. I find the virw of flames synthetic and unrealistic. For my next project I'll probably go for something that gives me real flames that brings the heat, the smell, the sound and more importantly the real heat."

"We had this installed in our house when it was built after one use it stoped working a technician came and replaced every major electric component the same thing happened a couple of months later and was told by the company that sold it to us they would not come and repair as they were now not makeing a profit on the sale we got it fixed again and now 2 years later it is broken I would never recommend napoleon to anyone this is a lemon"

"I did a lot of research before purchasing my Napoleon fireplace it seems Napoleon 42"uses LED for their flames which produce a very lifelike flame The fireplace is something you would see in the high-end hotel or vacation home .even produces enough heatto take the chill out As long as you have an alternative heat sourceHaving the option to control the flame from blue to yellow or in between is a very nice feature .very easy installation one half hour and the quality of the material it's made of is top of the line . The remote control really pushes this product over the top ."

"The product was on back order but it arrived within three weeks of ordering. We wanted it recessed so my husband built a wall for it, complete with niches. It took about a half a day. (He's a contractor.) The fireplace was simple to install, just set it, plug it in and turn it on. The flame is realistic and I love how you can change the color combo. It's been a hot winter so we haven't used the heater yet but I tested it out and the blower is quiet. The fireplace has added so much atmosphere to the room! I couldn't be more pleased."
